Salajeet benefits in short: salajeet (shilajit) is a natural mountain resin that has been used for centuries in South Asian traditional medicine for energy, stamina and general strength, and a few small studies in men show a possible effect on testosterone and muscle strength. Most of the other popular salajeet ke fayde, such as better memory, stronger joints or slower ageing, are still based on tradition or early lab research. This guide explains each benefit honestly, how men and women use it, and who should be careful.

Many people in Pakistan search for salajeet uses in Urdu, salajeet k fawaid or benefits of salajeet in Urdu, and find a lot of big claims online with no proof behind them. As the Chitral House team, we would rather you decide with the full, honest picture.

Salajeet Ek Nazar Mein (سلاجیت) – A Short Introduction

Salajeet is a thick, sticky, dark brown to black substance that seeps out of rock cracks in high mountains during the summer heat. It forms over a very long time as plant and organic matter breaks down, and it contains fulvic acid, humic acid and a range of minerals. In Pakistan it mainly comes from the mountains of Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan.

You may also see it written as shilajeet or silajit, and outside South Asia it is known as mumijo or mineral pitch. It is found across the Himalaya, Karakoram and Hindu Kush ranges, which in Pakistan means Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral. In traditional systems, Ayurveda classes it as a rasayana (a rejuvenating tonic), and Unani hakeems in the tibb tradition also use salajeet in their remedies.

It is sold as resin, drops, gummies, capsules and powder, and resin is usually considered the least processed form. For its history, how it forms and what it is called in English, read our full post on what salajeet is and how it forms. Here we focus on its benefits and uses.

Salajeet Ke Fayde (سلاجیت کے فوائد): What Research Actually Says

The most important thing to understand about salajeet benefits is that not every benefit is equally proven. Some have been tested in small human trials, some only in the lab or on animals, and some rest only on traditional use. A 2011 review by Wilson and colleagues in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology reached the same conclusion: many of the claims made for salajeet still lack strong evidence.

What is inside salajeet? Its main components are humic substances, mostly fulvic acid, along with minerals such as iron, magnesium and zinc, and compounds called dibenzo-alpha-pyrones (DBPs). These are thought to be behind most of its effects, and lab studies show antioxidant activity, though that has been seen in the lab only, not proven in people. If you want to understand what fulvic acid is and why it matters, we cover it in a separate post.

This table shows at a glance how much research sits behind each benefit:

Benefit (faida) Level of research Our honest view
Energy and less fatigue (thakan) Mostly traditional use Some people notice a difference, not everyone
Men's health, testosterone and sperm count Two small human trials Promising, needs more research
Women's health Very little research Traditional use only so far
Iron and anaemia (khoon ki kami) Early animal research Not proven; not a replacement for iron treatment
Brain, memory and ageing Early lab research Not proven in humans
Recovery and muscle strength after exercise One small human trial May help active people keep strength

1. Energy, Stamina Aur Thakan (Fatigue)

Energy and stamina are the most common reasons people in Pakistan take salajeet. Traditional medicine treats it as a tonic that restores the body's strength, and many users say they feel less tired through the day after a few weeks of regular use.

What research says: this benefit rests mostly on traditional use and personal experience, not on strong human trials. Also remember that ongoing tiredness often has a real cause, such as poor sleep, low haemoglobin, low vitamin D or B12, thyroid problems or high blood sugar. If that is the cause, salajeet alone will not fix it, so get tested first.

2. Men's Health Aur Testosterone

Men's health is where salajeet has the most research so far. In a 2016 study by Pandit and colleagues (Andrologia), healthy men aged 45 to 55 took 250 mg of purified salajeet twice a day for 90 days, and their total testosterone rose compared with the placebo group.

An earlier study by Biswas and colleagues (Andrologia, 2010) gave processed salajeet for 90 days to men with a low sperm count, and their sperm count and motility improved. It was a small study, so the result is promising but not proof.

What research says: these were small studies, so they are encouraging but not final proof. They do not show that salajeet treats low testosterone, infertility or erectile problems.

3. Women's Health (Auraton Ki Sehat)

Women also use salajeet for energy, general strength and recovery after tiring periods of life. In traditional practice it is often given as a general tonic rather than for one specific problem.

What research says: there is very little research on salajeet in women, so these benefits are based on traditional use. It must not be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding, because its safety at these times has not been studied.

4. Iron Aur Khoon Ki Kami (Anaemia)

Because salajeet naturally contains minerals including iron, it has a traditional reputation for helping people who feel weak due to low blood. This is one reason many women in Pakistan ask about it.

What research says: the evidence here is limited to early animal research, not human trials. If you have anaemia, your doctor's iron treatment and a good diet come first. People with iron overload (haemochromatosis) should not take salajeet without medical advice, since extra iron may be harmful for them.

5. Dimagh, Yaadasht Aur Ageing (Brain And Ageing)

Because of its fulvic acid content, salajeet has long been linked with sharper memory, focus and healthy ageing. Some people also take it for joints, bones and skin as they get older.

What research says: so far this is early lab research only, with no strong evidence in humans. If anyone tells you salajeet will "cure" memory loss, joint pain or skin problems, that claim is not supported. For students and older adults, sleep, water, exercise and a balanced diet still have the biggest effect.

6. Recovery Aur Muscle Strength

Active people and gym-goers use salajeet to recover after hard training. A 2019 study by Keller and colleagues (Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition) gave active men 500 mg of salajeet a day for 8 weeks, and after a tiring exercise test they kept their muscle strength better than the placebo group.

What research says: this suggests salajeet may help keep strength after effort, not that it builds muscle by itself. It was also a small study. Good food, enough protein, rest and regular training still do the real work.

Realistic Expectations: Salajeet Benefits Ko Kaise Dekhein

The fairest way to see salajeet is as a supportive supplement, not a medicine. The people who report the most benefit are usually those who already sleep well, eat properly, stay active and have ruled out medical causes for their tiredness or weakness. In that setting, salajeet may add a small boost to energy and recovery.

It is also normal for some people to notice very little. Results depend on your age, health, diet and the quality of the salajeet you buy. Give it several weeks of regular use at a normal dose before judging it, and stop if it does not suit you. If a seller promises fast or dramatic results, treat that as a warning sign rather than a reason to buy.

Salajeet Uses For Male (مردوں کے لیے) – Mardon Ke Liye

Men are the biggest users of salajeet in Pakistan. The most common salajeet uses for male readers are:

  • Daily energy and stamina for long work days and physical labour.
  • Testosterone support in men over 40, based on the small 2016 study above.
  • Gym recovery and keeping strength after hard training.
  • General strength (taqat) as a traditional tonic, often taken in warm milk.

Many men take salajeet in warm milk at night or with breakfast, and most give it several weeks before deciding whether it helps. Men who lift weights or do heavy physical work often pair it with a protein-rich diet, which matters far more for strength than any supplement.

One important point: erection problems can sometimes be an early sign of heart disease, diabetes or high blood pressure, so a check-up matters more than any supplement. For a fuller look at stamina, testosterone and fertility, read our separate post on salajeet benefits for men.

Salajeet Uses For Female (خواتین کے لیے) – Auraton Ke Liye

Women can use salajeet too, but with a few extra cautions. The most common salajeet uses for female readers are:

  • Energy and less tiredness during busy home and work routines.
  • General strength as a traditional tonic.
  • Mineral support alongside, not instead of, proper treatment for low iron.

Many women prefer gummies or honey shilajit because they are easier to take and have a milder taste than resin. Whatever the form, the same daily limits and cautions apply. If tiredness is your main reason for trying it, a simple blood test for haemoglobin, iron, vitamin D and thyroid is a sensible first step.

Women who are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding should not take salajeet. Women with heavy periods, anaemia or a thyroid condition should speak to a doctor first so the real cause is treated. We explain the women's side in detail in salajeet benefits and precautions for women.

Salajeet Ka Istemal (استعمال): Dose In Brief

Most people take 300–500 mg of salajeet resin a day, which is roughly the size of a pea or a few grains of rice. Dissolve it in warm (not boiling) water or milk and drink it, ideally at the same time each day. If you are new to it, start at the lower end and see how your body responds.

Taking more does not give more benefit. For timing, taking it with milk and how long to continue, see our step-by-step guide on how to take salajeet with milk.

Kin Logon Ko Ihtiyaat Karni Chahiye (احتیاط)

Natural does not mean safe for everyone. Talk to your doctor before taking salajeet if any of these apply to you:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding: do not take it; its safety has not been studied.
  • Children: salajeet is for adults only.
  • Kidney disease, gout or high uric acid: get your doctor's approval first.
  • Heart conditions: check with your doctor before starting.
  • Diabetes or blood pressure medicine: salajeet may add to the effect of these medicines, so ask first.
  • Iron overload (haemochromatosis): avoid unless your doctor says otherwise.

If you notice itching, rash, breathing trouble, stomach upset or any unusual symptom, stop and see a doctor. For the full list, read salajeet side effects and precautions.

Khalis Salajeet Kaise Chunein: Choosing A Pure, Tested Product

Fake and adulterated salajeet is common in Pakistan, and raw or poorly purified salajeet can contain heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, mercury and cadmium. That is why proper purification and independent lab testing matter. A few quick signs of real resin:

  • Texture: it turns hard in the cold and soft and sticky in warmth.
  • Dissolving: it slowly dissolves in warm water and turns it brown.
  • Taste: slightly bitter and earthy; very sweet or salty is a warning sign.
  • Lab report: home tests only give a rough idea, so always ask the seller for lab test results.

Chitral House salajeet is lab tested by Eurofins, PCSIR (Pakistan) and an accredited US laboratory, and you can view our salajeet lab reports yourself. Frequently Asked Questions

Salajeet ke kya fayde hain?

Salajeet is traditionally used for energy, stamina and general strength. Small studies suggest it may support testosterone in middle-aged men and help active men keep muscle strength after exercise. Benefits for memory, joints, anaemia and ageing are based on tradition or early lab research and are not yet proven.

Salajeet mardon ke liye kaise faidemand hai?

For men, salajeet is mainly used for energy, stamina, testosterone support and recovery after exercise. One small 2016 study found higher total testosterone in healthy men aged 45 to 55 after 90 days. It is not a treatment for infertility or erection problems, which should be checked by a doctor.

Kya salajeet se sperm count barhta hai?

One small 2010 study found that men with a low sperm count had better sperm count and motility after taking processed salajeet for 90 days. That is an early result, not proof, and salajeet is not a fertility treatment. If you and your partner are having trouble conceiving, see a doctor for proper tests first.

Kya auratein salajeet kha sakti hain?

Yes, adult women can take salajeet for energy and general strength, though research in women is limited. Women who are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding should not take it, and women with anaemia, thyroid problems or other conditions should ask a doctor first.

Salajeet kitne din mein asar karta hai?

There is no fixed time. In the studies, people took salajeet regularly for 8 weeks to 90 days, so do not expect quick results. Every body is different, and some people notice no clear change at all.

Salajeet in English kya kehte hain?

In English it is called shilajit. Salajeet (سلاجیت) and shilajit are the same thing: a natural resin that seeps from mountain rocks, found in Pakistan in Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Salajeet rozana kitna lena chahiye?

Most people take 300–500 mg of resin a day, about the size of a pea, dissolved in warm water or milk. Start at the lower end if you are new to it, and do not take more than this.

Kya salajeet rozana lena mehfooz hai?

For healthy adults, a daily 300–500 mg dose of clean, lab-tested salajeet is generally considered fine. People who are pregnant or breastfeeding, children, and anyone with kidney disease, gout, heart conditions, iron overload, or who takes diabetes or blood pressure medicine should talk to a doctor first.
